New courts opened June 19 for Resort guests and community players!
There is something new to enjoy at Pacific Playgrounds Oceanside Resort, and it is ready just in time for summer.
Our new pickleball courts officially open on June 19, giving Resort guests and community players a fresh way to play, connect, and spend time together by the coast.
Whether you are staying in a cottage, settling into your RV site, enjoying one of our in-place RVs, or visiting as a community player, the new courts add another easy, active, and social experience to your time at Pacific Playgrounds.
Play a morning match before heading out for the day. Join open play and meet a few new people. Book private court time with family or friends. Or simply enjoy the players’ gallery and take in the energy of one of the fastest-growing sports around.
However you like to play, pickleball is now part of the Pacific Playgrounds experience.
A new way to enjoy Resort life
Pacific Playgrounds has always been about giving guests room to shape their own stay.
Some days are made for exploring Vancouver Island. Others are made for staying close to the Resort, walking down to the courts, playing a game or two, and letting the day unfold at its own pace. That’s what makes pickleball such a natural fit here. It’s active without being complicated, social without being too formal, and easy to enjoy whether you are brand new to the game or already know your way around the court.
The new pickleball area includes:
- 4 outdoor pickleball courts
- A full players’ gallery for relaxing and gathering
- Online court reservations through CourtReserve
- Complimentary private court access for registered Resort guests
- Public play for community guests
- Open play on select courts
- Paddle rentals, demo paddles, balls, and equipment available at the Beachcomber Store
- Lessons available with certified instructor Chantal Rousseau
It is another way to enjoy your day without needing to go far from your cottage, RV site, or favourite spot at the Resort.
Free private court access for registered Resort guests
Registered Pacific Playgrounds guests can reserve private court time at no additional cost during their stay.
Reservations are still required through CourtReserve, which helps keep court time organized, fair, and easy to manage for everyone using the space.
Private court bookings are available in 30-minute increments, with a maximum booking length of 2 hours per reservation. Court time can be reserved up to one week in advance after your CourtReserve account is set up.
Guests will also receive court access details before their reservation time, including 4-digit access-code information connected to their stay and CourtReserve booking.
Community players are welcome too
The new pickleball courts are also open to community guests.
If you are not staying at Pacific Playgrounds, the public play rate is $5 per person, per hour. Community guests will also use CourtReserve to book court time and receive access details before their reservation.
This gives local and visiting players another place to enjoy pickleball in the Comox Valley area while sharing the energy of the Resort.
Open play for solo players and social games
Want to play but do not have a partner? No problem.
Open play will be available most days from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on select courts. It is a great option for solo players, couples, or anyone who wants to join in, meet new people, and enjoy a more social style of play.
Open play must be booked through CourtReserve. If open play is full, players are encouraged to add their name to the waiting list in case a spot opens.
Open play cost: $10
Court hours, rentals, and equipment
The pickleball courts are open daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
If you do not have your own gear, the Beachcomber Store can help you get set up. Paddles are available to rent for $5, and balls can be purchased for $4. A valid ID or credit card is required for equipment rentals.
Demo paddles are also available for $10 per use, and demo rental fees can be applied toward the purchase of a new paddle.
The Beachcomber Store carries a selection of pickleball gear, including paddles, balls, grip tape, pickleball sweat towels, paddle cleaning blocks, and paddle cases.
Lessons are available
If you are new to pickleball or want to improve your game, lessons are available with certified instructor Chantal Rousseau.
Chantal is Level 1 certified and provides lessons for players of all ages. Whether you are just getting started or already play regularly, lessons can help you build confidence, improve your skills, and enjoy the game even more.

Court reservations are handled through CourtReserve.To get started:
- Download the CourtReserve app for Apple devices, for Android devices, or access CourtReserve online.
- Create your account.
- Search for Pacific Playgrounds Pickleball.
- Select the membership option that applies to you.
- Reserve your court time.
