Yes. All 20 of our cottages are modernized, fully equipped two-bedroom units that sleep up to six. They have 1 queen bed, and 2 singles. Learn more on the Cottages page.
We offer both pull-through and back-in RV Sites. You can see which type of access a site provides through our online booking platform Campspot after clicking Book Now.
Yes. Our cottages and Stay-in-Place RVs are non-smoking. A minimum fee of $1,000 will apply for smoking inside a unit.

All of our Stay-in-Place RVs are owned by the Resort.
No, we don’t permit external RV’s into our pool of rental vehicles.
No. Our cottages and Stay-in-Place RVs include all required bedding and linens, so you do not need to bring your own. For a full list of amenities for each RV, please visit the Stay in Place RV page. All of our cottages include a television with complimentary basic cable and WiFi. Our RV Rentals have television set up for wifi and can load your own Netflix, Firestick, etc., but no cable is provided.
Yes. Our fully serviced RV Sites include oceanfront, riverside, interior, and creekside locations. You can see more details about each location on our Stay in Place RV’s page or through our online booking platform Campspot after clicking Book Now and reviewing our key policies.
Yes. Our Stay-in-Place RVs are fully self-contained and include their own bathroom.

We offer two-bedroom cottages and fully serviced RV Sites for your own RV, including oceanfront, riverside, and creekside locations. Our cottages are 2 bedroom (1 queen, and 2 singles). We also offer Stay-in-Place RVs, which give you the full RV experience without having to bring your own RV. Our full-service RV Sites are spacious and come in both pull-through and back-in layouts. If you have a larger rig or want to confirm a site will fit a specific length, please call us at 1 250 337-5600 and we will help you choose the right spot. Activities & Local Attractions
Yes. You can explore nearby trails such as the Oyster River Trail, or head up to Mt. Washington for hiking and snowshoeing. Other nearby options include Oyster River Nature Park, Miracle Beach Provincial Park, Elk Falls Provincial Park with its waterfall and suspension bridge near Campbell River, Nymph Falls Nature Park, and the alpine trails of Strathcona Provincial Park. Yes, a valid BC fishing license is required for all fishing charters. You can purchase one online before your trip by visiting the Government of BC website: Tidal Water (Sport Fishing) Licence

Guests enjoy fishing and boating, wildlife watching for eagles, seals, and even whales, hiking and walking trails such as the Oyster River Trail, kayaking and paddleboarding, playing pickleball on our new courts, and relaxing in the Oasis Area. There is plenty of amenities close by, including a grocery store, pizza restaurant, liquor store, a pharmacy and a medical clinic two minutes away by car (15 minutes walking), and a gas station in Black Creek, along with a wide variety of dining, golf, and Island attractions in nearby communities like Courtenay, Comox, Campbell River, and Cumberland. You may spot bald eagles, great blue herons, harbour seals, sea lions, river otters, and a wide variety of marine life, including orca, humpback and grey whales, and Pacific white-sided dolphins. Black-tailed deer are common around the Resort, and black bears and cougars are sometimes seen in the area. Yes, during the online booking process you will select your preferred site or unit for your stay. To view available sites or units, view our key policies and then proceed to our online booking platform to view availability of individual sites. Our Stay-in-Place RVs can be reserved through our online booking platform, alongside our cottages and RV Sites. To access the booking platform, please review and acknowledge our key policies, and a link to Campspot will be provided. If you can’t find the dates or unit you’re looking for, please call us at 1 250 337-5600 and we’ll be glad to help. You can learn more about these rental RVs on the Stay in Our RVs page.
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for the peak summer season, which can fill up months in advance. The earlier you reserve, the better your choice of dates and sites. Our bookings open May 1 each year for the following year, so currently you can book a site for the 2027 season, and 2028 bookings will open on May 1, 2027.
Minimum stays vary by accommodation type and season. Our Stay-in-Place RV rentals have a three-night minimum in peak season and a two-night minimum in the shoulder / low season. Our cottages require three nights in peak season, two nights in the shoulder / low season (but three on long weekends), and two nights in the low season. Note that the May long weekend is treated as peak season, so a three-night minimum applies. Full details are shown on the Rates page, and our booking platform Campspot will show the minimum that applies to your selected dates
All of our accommodations, including our cottages and Stay-in-Place RVs, can be reserved through our online booking system at campspot.com. If the booking page is not showing the site option you want, please call us at 1 250 337-5600 and we will help you find availability.
Guests must be at least 19 years old to rent a cottage, Stay-in-Place RV, or RV Site. An adult must make the reservation and be present on site throughout the stay.
All of our Stay-in-Place RV sites have decks – you can check the full site details on the Stay-in-Our RV’s page or when you are selecting a site through our online booking platform, Campspot. Similarly, all cottages have decks, and you can see the full details of what’s included for each cottage on the Our Cottages page or through our online booking platform. Bring-Your-Own RV sites do not have decks. For all types of accommodation, full details about features and amenities are listed among the site details on our online booking platform, Campspot. Note that the View Sites that have decks are V01, V02, V03, V04, V06, and V07, shown in light purple on the map here.
Fishing & Charters
Yes. Boat charters can take you out to see whales, sea lions, and many other types of coastal wildlife. See the Fishing & Charters page for more information.
Yes. Fishing charters can be booked through our on-site partner, Island Life Expeditions, who welcome both seasoned anglers and first-timers. See the Fishing & Charters page.
Yes. A valid BC tidal waters sport fishing licence is required for all fishing charters. You can purchase one online from Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Annual, 5 day, 3 day, and 1 day licenses are available. If you plan to retain any species of Pacific Salmon, be sure to also acquire a Salmon Conservation Stamp when you purchase your license.

RV Sites have power, water, sewer are available on each site. Power is billed to the site based on usage. WiFi costs $30 per month, plus tax.
Cottages are fully equipped with all necessities. Power is metered and billed to the cottage. WiFi is included in the rental fee.

Marina & Boating
No, there are no freezers to store your catch on site.
Yes, you are welcome to use our boat launch. Boat trailers and tow vehicles must be parked on the resort entrance road, subject to availability. Storage is not permitted in the Resort for people who are only utilizing the launch.
For the comfort and safety of all guests, live-aboard vessels are not permitted based on direction from Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA). Our docks are for recreational moorage only.
Yes. Pacific Playgrounds Marina offers around 140 boat slips with daily, monthly, and seasonal moorage, a boat launch, fresh water, and power. See the Marina page for more information.

Yes. Our on-site Tackle Shack (located in our Beachcomber Store) carries tackle and stocks boating essentials, snacks, and ice.
Yes, we have a boat launch ramp. Launching is $25 per day, or $350 for an annual pass.
Yes. There is a fish cleaning station at the marina, along with a Tackle Shack for bait and supplies. The fish cleaning station is only open seasonally.
Yes. Our docks offer fresh water and 15 amp power, available in slips from 26 to 42 feet (7.9 metres to 12.8 metres).
The marina sits just south of the Oyster River estuary. The channel is narrow and shallowest by the outermost post, and you will need a minimum tide of about seven feet for a boat with a 4.5-foot draft. The tide reference is Mitlenatch Island. Please avoid entering in high swells or strong southeast winds. See the Marina page for tide charts.
Moorage is available daily, weekly, monthly, and annually, with rates based on boat slip size. You can view current rates and download the rate sheet on the Marina page.
Our marina accommodates vessels up to 42 feet, with limited annual moorage for boats over 42 feet (12.8 metres). Boat length includes all extensions such as swim grids and motors.
There is no fuel dock at our marina, but refuelling is available nearby at Salmon Point (regular gas) and Discovery Harbour (regular and diesel).
Pickleball
Yes. Demo paddles can be rented for $10 per use, and demo rental fees can be applied toward the purchase of a new paddle.
Yes. Lessons are available with certified instructors Chantal Rousseau and Paul Donyon, who are Level 1 certified and work with players of all ages and skill levels.
Yes. The Beachcomber Store carries paddles, balls, grip tape, pickleball sweat towels, paddle cleaning blocks, and paddle cases.
Yes. Paddles can be rented from the Beachcomber Store for $5. Balls can be purchased for $4. Valid ID or a credit card is required to rent equipment.
Yes. Community guests can book court time through CourtReserve. Public play is $5 per person, per hour.
Yes. Open play is booked through CourtReserve. If open play is full, you can add your name to the waiting list in case a player drops out. Open play is $10.
Yes. All court time must be reserved through the CourtReserve app. Download the app for Apple devices here. Download the app for Android devices here. Or visit the CourtReserve website to create your account.
Court time can be reserved up to one week in advance after your CourtReserve account is set up.
Pickleball courts are booked in 30-minute increments. Private court bookings are limited to a maximum of 2 hours per reservation.
We have four professional-grade courts built with Laykold’s tour-certified surface, designed for excellent play and to be easier on the joints.
Private court reservations are complimentary for registered Resort guests during their stay. Reservations are still required.
Courts may close due to weather, maintenance, or operational needs. Please check CourtReserve or contact Pacific Playgrounds for current court status.
Open play is available most days from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on select courts. Open play gives solo players a chance to join in, meet other players, and enjoy the courts.
Our four pickleball courts are open daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with reservations handled through the CourtReserve app. See the Pickleball page for more information.

Policies
Yes, campfires are welcome but must be contained to the fire ring, cannot exceed 19 inches in height (48cm) and must never be left unattended. Please make sure your fire is fully out before leaving your site or turning in for the night. Please note that Provincial Fire Bans have varying levels of restrictions and may overrule our campfire policy. Though it is not possible to predict the existence or scope of fire bans on the day(s) of your planned stay, you can check conditions at the Comox Valley Regional district website.
No. Fireworks are prohibited everywhere in the Resort, for the safety of all guests.
Yes. Pacific Playgrounds welcomes well-behaved pets. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, and we provide waste bags to help you clean up after them. Please ensure your pet does not disturb other guests. When reserving cottage / RV Rental, please include the number of adults, kids, and pets who will be staying with us – this will show you all availability for pet friendly accommodations. Please not that we do not allow cats.
We have two dedicated tent sites. If you are staying on an RV Site, one small sleeping tent for up to two people plus one gazebo (shade) tent is permitted alongside your RV.
Day visitors are welcome but must leave the Resort by 11:00 pm. Please note that the pool and other guest amenities are reserved for registered guests only. Guests must obtain a visitor pass and park in the designated parking area.
Yes! We have a BBQ area with covered seating and The Oasis that can be reserved for events. Contact us for availability.

Yes, each site has a fire ring, and all fires must be kept contained to it. For questions about bringing your own charcoal BBQ, please contact us at 1 250 337-5600.
Pacific Playgrounds welcomes well-behaved dogs, although cats are not allowed in our lodgings. Dogs must always be kept on a leash. We provide ‘dog waste bags’ to assist you with cleaning up after them. Please ensure they don’t cause a disturbance to other guests.
Times depend on your accommodation. For RV Sites, check-in is 1:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am. For cottages and Stay-in-Place RVs, check-in is 4:00 pm and check-out is 10:00 am.

Boats, boat trailers, and utility trailers may not be parked at the cottages, Stay-in-Place RVs, or RV Sites. There is dedicated parking for these items at the back of the Resort. Additional RVs may not be parked at a site. Please visit the main office for the location to park and to obtain a parking pass.

Nightly rates for our Stay-in-Place RVs vary by season. Please see our Rates page for current pricing.
Our rates are based on four guests, although a maximum of six are allowed. There is an additional charge of $10.00 per person, per night for guests over four. Children under six stay for free but count towards the 6 person maximum limit.
WiFi is available throughout the Resort. Our cottages include complimentary WiFi, and WiFi is available for an additional charge for our Stay-in-Place and Bring Your Own RV Sites. See On-Site Amenities for more information. The WiFi costs $5 per day, $20 per week, and $30 per month, plus tax.
Rates vary by season and accommodation type. Please see our Rates page for current pricing broken down by accommodation type and season.
A deposit is required at the time of booking, and the amount varies by accommodation type. Cottages and Stay-in-Place RV rentals require a $250 deposit, and full-service RV Sites / marina require a $50 deposit. You can see the deposit and cancellation terms on the Rates page and the Resort Policies page respectively.
We accept cash, debit, e-transfer, cheque, Visa or Mastercard.
Your balance for the reservation is due on or before your arrival date. It can be paid on line thru the confirmation email you should have received from our booking platform, by calling our office to process the payment, or in person at the time of check in.
Resort Amenities & Services
Yes, there are showers / change rooms at the pool. Showers are coin operated and are 2½ minutes for a Loonie (1$). Change can be obtained from the office or the general store.
Our pool is for registered guests only. There is no lifeguard on duty. Food, drinks, and pets are not permitted in the pool area, and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Yes, our pool is heated. It operates seasonally, from the May long weekend to Canadian Thanksgiving (the second Monday in October). The kiddie pool is not heated and closes after the September long weekend (the first Monday in September).
Our pool opens on the May long weekend and remains open until Canadian Thanksgiving (the second Monday in October), weather permitting. If you would like to double check pool availability in October, please contact us.
Our pool is seasonal and does not open until the May long weekend (the weekend that includes the Monday preceding May 25), so it is not open in March. It stays open through to Canadian Thanksgiving (the second Monday in October), weather permitting.

The public washrooms are wheelchair accessible.
No. There is no lifeguard on duty, so please swim at your own risk and supervise children carefully. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
We have Camp Hosts available after hours to assist our guests. Their contact information is displayed on a sign posted on the general office door after hours.

Our Beachcomber Store stocks everyday essentials, snacks, ice, specialty coffee, fishing tackle, and over 20 flavours of ice cream, as well as children’s toys, pickleball equipment, and candy.
The Oasis is our adults-only area, a quiet, relaxing space for guests who want to unwind. It can also be reserved for gatherings.

Yes. Discovery Foods (Mid Island Co-Op) is a 2-minute drive or a 15 minute walk away. Our on-site Beachcomber Store also carries snacks, essentials, coffee, and ice cream, among many other things!

The nearest airport is Comox Valley Airport (YQQ), about 30 minutes from the Resort, with direct flights from Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton, plus seasonal summer service from Toronto. The closest airport is Comox Valley Airport (YQQ), which is about a 30-minute drive from the Resort.

From the Lower Mainland, BC Ferries runs from Tsawwassen to Duke Point in Nanaimo (about 2 hours), Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay near Victoria (about 1 hour 35 minutes), or Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay in Nanaimo (about 1 hour 35 minutes). From the Nanaimo terminals it is about 125 km north on Highway 19 to Exit 144 (Oyster River/Black Creek). Booking ahead in peak season is recommended. See the Getting Here page for more information.
